Abstract
- Cloud computing is an emerging technology, in which users demand the computing resources such as software, storage, etc based on pay-per-use services. Since cloud computing is widely expanding and there is also an increase in the number of users. Therefore, energy consumption and resource utilization are serious concerns in complex cloud systems. To this end, Virtual Machine (VM) placement or virtualization plays an important role in allocating the resources and power to their users. For efficient allocation, multiple factors such as migration overhead, Service Legal Violation (SLA), number of migrations, etc. has been considered. Since the problem is challenging, several optimization algorithms have been considered to solve this issue and have been implemented using different methods. Therefore, this paper presents a review to discuss the role of optimization techniques for VM migration and allocation. The current paper has been discussed and a review of existing techniques post-2015-2022 has been presented. Further, a detailed comparison has been made to illustrate the important factors utilized in the past. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
