Abstract
- Ectodermal dysplasia is a group of hereditary syndromes that presents defects in the development of one or more tissues of ectodermal origin. This study aimed to describe an oral rehabilitation of a patient with ectodermal dysplasia. Performed with fixed and removable prostheses, it returned the function and aesthetics, raising his self-esteem. Patient went for outpatient treatment at the Hospital for Craniofacial Anomalies in the dental prosthesis sector, complaining of esthetics and impaired masticatory function. On intraoral examination, numerous tooth absences were observed due to agenesis and malformation in the few remaining teeth (teeth region 13, 11, 21 23). After the clinical and radiographic examination, the treatment included the manufacture of total crowns milled in elements 11, 13, 21, and 23 (06 elements), with bilateral fittings in the canine region to receive a removable partial denture (class I of Kennedy), placing teeth on the free ends due to the impossibility of installing implants. In the lower arch, the only teeth the patient had were the canines 33 and 43, with the aggravating factor that they were rotated and malformed. A fixed canine-to-canine denture and a removable partial denture for the posterior region were made. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
