Abstract
- Aluminium based hybrid composite was fabricated by stir casting technique, boron carbide(B4C)and molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) were used as filler materials. Dry sliding wear behavior was studied for various temperature conditions for this compositespecimens were prepared as per ASTM G99-95 standard. The process parameters were Temperature (C), applied Load (N), Velocity (m/s) and Sliding Distances (m). An L27 orthogonal array and analysis of variance were selected to find the effect of process parameters and wear behavior of hybrid metal matrix composites. The effect of process parameters and percentage involvement were studied with Taguchi and ANOVA procedure. Confirmation test was done for optimizing the best and mean of the wear rate and to identify the exact influence of input parameters. The combination of hard B4C and dry lubricants MoS2 reduces the wear loss considerably. SEM images showthe dispersion of reinforcements in matrix material and wear phenomenon of composite material at elevated temperature the sliding distance contributes more to the wear loss.
