Abstract
- A 73-year-old woman experienced muscle pain as a result of a drug-drug interaction between atorvastatin, a medication for high cholesterol, and citalopram, a medication for depression. The woman had been taking atorvastatin for years and later started citalopram for depressive disorder. However, after two weeks of taking citalopram, she developed severe muscle pain in her calves and had difficulty climbing stairs. The woman's atorvastatin dose was reduced, and her muscle pain eventually disappeared. It was determined that the muscle pain was caused by the interaction between atorvastatin and citalopram.
