Abstract

Using the methods of computational fluid dynamics, an investigation has been conducted into convective heat transfer by a bundle of tubes with heat transfer enhancers in the form of a system of spherical dimples made on their outer surface. The presence of enhancers changes the structure of the flow and turbulizes it in the vicinity of dimples, which can lead to a reduction in the length of the wake behind the tube bundle and to a decrease in hydraulic losses due to this. Prospects are shown for the use of enhancers to raise the thermal and aerodynamic efficiency of tube bundles at their various arrangements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
