Abstract

Tesla is facing multiple lawsuits in the United States related to its Autopilot driver-assistance system. Families of individuals who died in crashes allegedly involving Autopilot, as well as consumers and investors, have sued the company, claiming deceptive marketing and misleading statements about the system's capabilities. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has previously stated that the company's cars were close to operating autonomously, but engineers have provided a more cautious view in legal proceedings. The company's largest recall to date, involving the driver-assistance system, has prompted criticism of Tesla's promotion of Autopilot and confusion over its safe use. The U.S. Justice Department and Securities and Exchange Commission are investigating whether Tesla misled the public in its marketing of Autopilot. [Extracted from the article]
