Abstract

The balanced design method (BDM) upholds the concept of mixture performance balance, and provides a new direction in the field of mix design for enhancing the performance of hot-in-place recycled mixtures. In order to explore the effectiveness of BDM in the field of heat-in-place regeneration, BDM of heat-in-place regeneration was adopted to design the mix ratio of three kinds of heatregenerated asphalt mixtures with high content of reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP). And compared with the Marshall design method (MDM), the road performance analysis was carried out. The optimal amount of recycling agent was determined based on rheological performance indicators, and the optimal asphalt content was determined through high and low temperature performance tests of asphalt mixtures. The applicability of two design methods in in-situ geothermal recycling technology was studied through multiple types of road performance tests. The results show that the optimal asphalt content of BDM is higher than that of MDM at each RAP content, the road performance of the balanced mixture can meet the requirements of the specification. Low temperature performance does not meet specification requirements. Although BDM weakens the high temperature performance of the mixture, the higher the RAP content, the lower the effect. And BDM can better ensure the low temperature, fatigue and water stability performance of the mixture than MDM, and significantly enhance the comprehensive performance of the hot-in-place recycled mixture. Therefore, BDM is more suitable for the hot-inplace regeneration technology than MDM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
