Abstract

A comparative study of the features of the structure and characteristics of the mechanical properties of the V–Cr–W–Zr alloy depending on the modes of thermomechanical treatment has been carried out. It has been established that, compared with the standard mode of thermomechanical treatment, the use of the modified mode leads to a more than twofold decrease in the average grain size. The influence of the temperature of homogenizing annealing on the grain sizes after thermomechanical treatment has been revealed. Such a transformation of the structural-phase state when using a modified mode of thermomechanical treatment contributes to an increase in the short-term strength by ≈12 and ≈21% at 20 and 800°C, respectively, against the background of a slight decrease in ductility. It has been established that, regardless of the processing mode, a viscous type of fracture is observed, and an increase in the tensile temperature is accompanied by a multiple increase in cell sizes. The analysis of the influence of dispersity of second phase particles on the effects of hardening by the Orowan mechanism has been carried out. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
