Abstract

This text examines the perspectives of Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois, two influential civil rights leaders, on the relationship between racial justice and the environment. Both leaders recognized the economic factors that marginalized Black Americans from the land, with DuBois highlighting the spiritual connection between nature and Black Americans. However, racism hindered their ability to fully engage with the outdoors. The text emphasizes the significance of intersectional justice and provides suggestions for addressing environmental racism and advocating for environmental reparations. [Extracted from the article]
