Abstract

This document is a collection of abstracts from the International Journal of Psychology. The abstracts cover a range of topics including the relationship between our sense of agency and achieving goals, the neuroscience of sexuality and consciousness, the similarities and differences between pain and pleasure, the core emotional systems in mammals, attentional mechanisms in pleasurable experiences, cognitive control processes in multitasking, and the mediating role of mind wandering in the relationship between working memory and worry. Additionally, the document highlights a study on the beliefs about memory among Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioners, students, and researchers. The study found that while all groups were aware of memory fallibility, a majority of EMDR practitioners, students, and researchers endorsed the controversial idea of repressed memories. The document emphasizes the importance of therapists having correct knowledge about memory functioning to improve their expertise and prevent potential adverse effects of therapy.
