Abstract
- Benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH) is one of the most common causes of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in elderly men. BPH is caused by a combination of the proliferation of the prostate and obstruction of the lower urinary tract. Patients benefitted from both standard treatment and nurse-directed education programs; however, the improvement in symptom severity and physical component of quality of life were greater in patients who received the nursedirected education program.
