Abstract

The aim of the present study was to examine the performance evaluation of the Natural Catastrophe Insurance Pool, which is one of the special institutions operating in the Turkish insurance sector. For this purpose, an MCDM model combining MEREC and CRADIS methods was proposed. Firstly, the objective importance weights of the criteria were calculated using the MEREC method. In the second stage, the performance of DASK for the period 2009-2021 was determined and ranked via the CRADIS method. The results obtained from the objective weighting method showed that the most important performance criterion is the compensation paid, and the least important criterion is the number of policies. According to the results obtained from using the CRADIS method, in terms of the selected performance indicators, the best performance of DASK was 2020, and the worst performance was 2009. When the results of the study were evaluated in detail, it was determined that the performance of TCIP showed an increase in the period under consideration. In addition, sensitivity analysis was applied to test the validity of the study results. When the results of the sensitivity analysis made with 12 different scenarios were examined, it was determined that the best alternative in all scenarios applied was the 2020 alternative.
