Abstract
- New data suggests that women with a history of gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy have lower pregnancy weight gain compared to those without such a history, especially when the time between surgery and conception is shorter. The study, conducted in Sweden, analyzed 12,776 pregnancies and found that women with a history of bariatric surgery had lower pregnancy weight gain across all early-pregnancy BMI categories. The difference in weight gain was largest for women with normal weight or overweight early-pregnancy BMI status. The study suggests that clinical attention should be given to women with a history of bariatric surgery and a normal weight status in early pregnancy. [Extracted from the article]
