Abstract

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a growing pathology in the world and in our country. Due to advances in treatment and improved life expectancy, more women with SCD are having pregnancies. In these cases, the risks for mother and child are higher than for the general population. For this reason, a multidisciplinary team working in a protocolized way is required to achieve the best results. In this document we present the general principles for the management of women with SCD during pregnancy and point out the need for more studies to strengthen the scientific evidence in this population.
