Abstract

In this article I propose a reading of the novel Changó, El Gran Putas by the Afro-Colombian writer Manuel Zapata Olivella, in the light of the notion of fissure exposed by Nelly Richard and used in literary criticism by Silvia Molloy. It is problematized how this novel would be cracking the historical account of the device of Western history on the stories related to the African diaspora that took place in the sixteenth century. Initially, the notion of fissure is conceptualized, and then the notion of "device of Western history" is raised through the approaches expressed by Walter Mignolo. Finally, the myth of the curse of Changó is raised as the edge that generates the fissure within said device. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
