Abstract

Tree bark is an organic substance and a natural renewable resource. It is a more environmentally friendly material than glass, plastic and metals, which cause environmental problems such as pollution and health dangers. It is also a significant component of nature-based themes aimed at improving the psychological well-being of residents. Meanwhile, the safety of wood material in hygienically crucial areas is being questioned due to its porosity and hygroscopic nature. However, studies have shown that many regularly used wood species have antibacterial properties and may be considered a safe material for indoor use. The primary purpose of this article is to investigate the antibacterial potential of several barks from Indian states and union territories bordering the Himalayas, as well as how they may be used as eco-friendly thermal insulation panels in green buildings. The study also exposes information that may be used to assist future researchers and field professionals in selecting appropriate natural, low-cost, renewable materials for insulation and antibacterial treatment.
