Abstract

This article, titled "Want," discusses the desire of an owl for a specific woodland area. The owl is attracted to the beech trees and their hollow hearts, as well as the ancient oaks and hollies on the hilltop. The author reflects on how the land was left alone to grow trees, and how this has created a habitat that the owl wants to claim as its own. The article raises the question of whether humans should leave the land alone to allow wildlife to thrive. The author, Emily Tuszynska, is a poet who lives near a forested area that is at risk of being developed. [Extracted from the article]
