Self-harm can be considered a biopsychosocial phenomenon. Etiology concerns the interaction of environmental, biological and emotional factors. In particular, adolescence and early adulthood are considered risk periods for the development of selfharming behaviours. The phenomenon is characterized by social unacceptability, which makes these behaviours difficult to intercept. This condition requires the implementation of preventive interventions.
