Abstract

This article discusses a study on novel endoscopic surgical approaches to the parapharyngeal internal carotid artery (ppICA). The parapharyngeal space (PPS) is a challenging area to access and lesions in this area are difficult to remove completely. The study investigates two minimally invasive endoscopic approaches (preauricular and intermaxillary mandibular) compared to the traditional transcervical approach in accessing the ppICA. The results show that both the preauricular and intermaxillary mandibular approaches provide better access to the ppICA compared to the transcervical approach. The study concludes that these novel endoscopic approaches are feasible techniques for accessing and mobilizing the ppICA. [Extracted from the article]
