Abstract

This article discusses the role of dental professionals in the prevention and management of traumatic dental injuries (TDIs). The primary prevention of TDIs involves educating individuals participating in sports or other activities at risk of injury, as well as parents, coaches, and administrators. Dentists can provide preventive care by recognizing risks, offering guidance on protective devices, and providing education through various channels. Secondary prevention relies on dental professionals being knowledgeable about the latest guidelines for TDI management and being available for consultations. The article also highlights the unique challenges of managing trauma in children under 6 years old and emphasizes the importance of instilling a positive attitude in injured children.
