Abstract

The article focuses on the prioritization of glycogenesis over lipogenesis in hepatocytes for glucose storage, revealing that uridine diphosphate glucose (UDPG), an intermediate metabolite of glycogenesis, inhibits lipogenesis by binding to site-1 protease (S1P) in the Golgi apparatus. It study demonstrates that this metabolic regulation, involving UDPG-mediated inhibition of SREBP cleavage.
