Abstract

A case study published in Reactions Weekly describes a 70-year-old man who experienced a lack of efficacy while being treated with doxycycline for scrub typhus. The man was admitted to the hospital with fever and abdominal pain and was diagnosed with scrub typhus, as well as liver injury and intracranial infection. Despite receiving doxycycline, his condition worsened and he developed loss of consciousness and limb convulsions. He was transferred to the ICU and treated with moxifloxacin, which led to improvement in his symptoms. Eventually, he recovered and was discharged from the hospital. [Extracted from the article]
