Abstract

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) and potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) are increasingly recognized as the forefront contenders for the next generation of advanced secondary batteries. The quest for suitable anode materials to enhance the performance of SIBs and PIBs remains a critical challenge. Recently, zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) have emerged as a significant area of research due to the high porosity, high surface area, and controllable morphology. The application of various post-treatment methods has shown that ZIF derivatives can effectively address the inherent low electronic conductivity of pristine ZIFs. This article provides a thorough review of the recent advancements in ZIFs, encompassing a range of processes for preparing ZIF derivatives and their applications in anode materials for SIBs and PIBs. Moreover, it offers a visionary outlook on future research directions for ZIFs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
