Abstract
- This study investigates the reading habits of higher secondary students from two schools in Chhingchhip village of Mizoram, India. A survey was conducted with 25 students from each school, namely Sainik School Chhingchhip and St. Peter's Higher Secondary School Chhingchhip, to gather data on their reading habits. The survey collected information on the frequency and types of reading materials used by the students, the factors influencing their reading habits, and their attitudes toward reading. The results show that the majority of students in both schools read for pleasure, and that reading for academic purposes is also common. The study finds that the reading habits of the students in both schools concerning leisure reading have many similarities, while the fundamental reading culture and frequency of reading and utilizing libraries seem to be different in many ways. The findings of this study have important implications for educators and policy-makers seeking to promote and support reading habits among secondary school students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
