Treatment of erythromelanosis follicularis faciei et colli with a 595‐nm pulsed dye laser.

This article discusses the treatment of erythromelanosis follicularis faciei et colli (EFFC) with a 595-nm pulsed dye laser (PDL). EFFC is a condition characterized by telangiectasia, hyperpigmentation, and follicular papules on the face and neck, with a higher prevalence among individuals of Asian ancestry. Current treatments for EFFC are limited in efficacy, but this study presents three cases where treatment with the 595-nm PDL resulted in significant improvement. The PDL works by targeting blood vessels and melanin, and its integration of dynamic cooling technology reduces the risk of post-treatment pigmentation. However, the mechanism by which the PDL improves follicular plugging is not yet clear.
