Abstract

This article presents information about the Grand and Petit Morin valleys in France. Less than 30 miles outside Paris, the picturesque valleys cut by the Grand Morin and Petit Morin rivers invite to enjoy stunning historic sites as one meanders through charming villages that still recall the grain and paper mills these waterways once powered. Originating in the Brie region, the Petit and Grand Morins parallel the nearby Marne. Coupvray-Bas, in the hollow of the Grand Morin valley, is a well-preserved village typical of Brie. In the neighborhood near the canal, one can visit the birthplace of Louis Braille, inventor of the reading system for the blind. INSET: IF YOU GO.
