Abstract
- Metal spinning is a common method used in the industrial sector, especially in aluminium metal plate formation. The optimization of forming the product should be studied to get the best quality at a timeless and low-cost production. Rotational speed on metal spinning is a key to the roughness and thickness of the plate. The rotating motion will generate deformation on the metal plate, resulting in the finished product. Therefore, this research analyzed the effect of rotational speed on metal spinning variations in the surface roughness and the distribution of wall thickness of the aluminium metal plate. The variation was obtained in this research at 400, 605, and 900rpm and employed a 230mm diameter 1100 aluminium alloy-shaped plate with a thickness of 1mm. The result showed that the roughness of the plate was 0.493, 0.477, and 0.364µm at 400, 605, and 900rpm. While the thickness distribution measurements in the metal spinning process with speeds of 400, 605, and 900rpm demonstrate that the thickness distribution suffered little change at 400rpm, while the thickness distribution experienced a lot of changes at 900rpm (thinning).
