Abstract

Making holes with press dies is known as piercing. With the double punch method, piercing is used to make holes in the pan so that the perforation process is speedier and the hole spacing is consistent. To evaluate the effect of diameter punch on diameter hole, burr length, and piercing process time, this research was conducted. Punch diameters of 5mm and 6mm were employed, which are manufactured from pans using a metal spinning method and have a thickness of 1.2mm before machining, then measurement was applied to the specimen product. The result showed that the average value of the 5mm and 6mm punch diameter has a close value to the punch diameter. Hole A had 5.03mm and 6.04mm in diameter, whereas the average value for hole B was 5.01mm and 6.05mm in diameter. Wear on the punch eye may result in a disparity in diameter results, resulting in the generation of incorrect diameter. The length of the burr produced is also influenced by the punch diameter fluctuation. The larger the cross-sectional area, the greater the burr generated. A punch with a diameter of 5mm produces a burr of 0.26mm, whereas a punch with a diameter of 6mm produces a burr of 0.73mm. As a result, the rivet connection holes are punched with a 5mm punch. The punching process does not take long because the pressure applied is uniform and the pan material is very soft, making it perfect for use in large industry productions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
