Abstract

This article discusses the creation of an art project called Pulse: New Cultural Registers, which aims to challenge negative narratives about El Salvador and its diaspora. The project combines personal and historical archives with seismic records to create a visual representation of the cultural legacy of the 1980s and 1990s, when El Salvador experienced a civil war. The artist, who is part of the Salvadoran diaspora, uses this project to honor her late mother and the artists who worked during this difficult time. The goal of Pulse is to create a space for dialogue, representation, and solidarity with El Salvador, and to create a more hopeful and restorative future. [Extracted from the article]
