Abstract

This research note discusses a study conducted on youth climate activists in British Columbia between 2018 and 2021. The findings reveal that these activists are highly concerned about climate change, critical of the government's policy approach, and supportive of civil disobedience. They prioritize climate change as a significant issue and recognize its interconnectedness with other social justice issues. The majority of respondents were unsupportive of Canada's current climate policies and expressed support for aggressive policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They also recognized the need for Canada's economy to transition away from fossil fuel extraction. The study highlights the important role of youth in mobilizing action on climate change.
