Abstract

Organizational identification is defined as a strong affective and cognitive connection between the worker and their organization, promoting itself as a relevant construct for organizational studies. The objective of this literature review was to map the intellectual structure and identify current research approaches on organizational identification using a bibliometric method. The results indicate that the field was structured from research on (1) the foundations and construction of the concept of identification and (2) the construction of the concept and its operationalization. Current researches are interested in (1) antecedents and consequences, (2) management of the identification, and (3) the impact of identification on member behavior. Finally, it suggests that future research should focus on the relation between organizational identification, cultural alignement and new work arrangements and the impact of types of leadership on the strength of organizational identification.
