Abstract

A 45-year-old man with a history of bipolar disorder and chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) experienced a lack of efficacy with imatinib treatment and subsequently developed acute pancreatitis (AP) while being treated with nilotinib. The patient presented to the emergency unit with abdominal pain and nausea, and tests revealed elevated serum lipase and amylase levels. Abdominal ultrasonography showed a normal pancreas. The patient's treatment with nilotinib was discontinued, and he received fluid therapy and pain management. His symptoms resolved, and his lipase and amylase levels returned to normal. The adverse drug reaction was considered probable. [Extracted from the article]
