Abstract
- A solar photovoltaic (SPV), battery energy storage (BES), and a wind-driven SEIG-based islanded microgrid (MG) system is developed and utilized to provide continuous power to remote areas and electrical vehicle (EV) charging station (CS). The CS is primarily designed to use the extra power during reduced load to charge the EV battery. To synchronize and control the proposed MG system and to extract fundamental component, a Savitzky–Golay filter (SGF) (Hasan et al. in IEEE Trans Instrum Meas 71:1–6, 2022. https://doi.org/10.1109/TIM.2022.3196946)-based phase-locked loop (PLL) control approach is employed. The SGF control with VSC provides harmonics suppression, stabilization of frequency, quick response with lesser oscillations, and enhancement of the overall power quality (PQ) of the MG system under numerous operating scenarios such as uncertain conditions of load, wind, and solar power. Further, an MG suffers from problems of deviation in generation and continuous dynamic load demand; therefore, for power leveling between the load and power generation sources, a BES is connected across the DC link of the VSC through a bidirectional DC–DC converter (BDC). Moreover, to improve CS operational efficiency, the CS also performs vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) power transfer. The observed results show the dynamic behavior of the proposed islanded system, which is confirmed through an experimental prototype. The CS follows the IEEE-1547 standard in all working modes, and the total harmonic distortion (THD) of voltage & current is below 5%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
