Abstract

Recently, many researchers had interest in developing MOF for many applications like catalyst and biosensor. MOF was arranged by metal and organic ligand that in several step of synthesis it can be form a metal complex. In this work, copper complex was formed by the coordination between the copper ion and the group of amino alcohol of Triethylamine (TEA). The Copper complex was synthesized using a simple co-precipitation involving Triethylamine (TEA), benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid, and copper nitrate trihydrate, High amount of TEA was found to causes the formation of copper complex. The morphology of the complex observed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) also Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) showed the irregular-shaped in nano scale was formed by the proposed technique. The crystal structure by X-Ray Diffractometry (XRD), indicated that the coordination between copper ion, TEA and benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid leads to amorphous structure. The electrochemical performances were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry technique in the range potential of 0-1 Volt, with variation of scan rate and cycling parameters, showed the characteristic of charge transfer to diffusion controlled. Then, the charge transfer resistance was measured by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy at 0.1 Hz - 100 kHz showed the capacitive system characteristic because of the large charge transfer resistance.
