Abstract
- • The addition of cerium dioxide particles increases the corrosion resistance of aluminum anodes. • Cerium dioxide particles destroy the oxide film on the surface of aluminum anode, thus improving the discharge effect. • The addition of cerium dioxide increases the electrochemical activity and anode utilization of aluminum anode. In this word, the effects of adding different contents of CeO 2 to pure Al anode alloy plates on the anode performance of aluminum air batteries were evaluated using an electrochemical workstation, a blue dot test system, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that the addition of CeO 2 had a positive effect on the discharge performance of aluminum anodes for aluminum-air batteries, especially at high current density of 100 mA·cm−2 for Al-0.20 wt% CeO 2 and Al-0.25 wt% CeO 2 anodes, and also improved the electrochemical activity, corrosion resistance, and anode utilization of aluminum anodes.
