This research analyzes the proclamation of the Cadiz Constitution in Cartagena de Indias, primarily through a set of unpublished primary sources that vividly describe the clash between two factions within the army of the Spanish monarchy. The study aims to contextualize the conflict and examine the origins and consequences of the disputes between the conflicting factions that championed two antagonistic projects: liberal and absolutist.
