Abstract

This article from Beijing Review highlights the work of an all-female patrol team stationed in Xinjiang's mountainous border area. The team, consisting of 22 female villagers, carries out border patrols and security duties along the China-Kyrgyzstan border. The patrol team provides local women with alternative job opportunities and allows them to work close to home, providing more time for family compared to other jobs. Despite the challenges of working in harsh conditions, the team takes pride in safeguarding the country's borders. The article also emphasizes the importance of language skills and cultural diversity in the region, as well as the development of infrastructure and tourism in the area. [Extracted from the article]
