Abstract

A delegation of Chinese scholars led by Professor Zhang Yonghe recently visited the United States for academic exchanges on human rights. The purpose of the visit was to foster open and academic communication, enhance mutual understanding, and explore potential future collaboration. Topics of interest during the exchange included Chinese people's perceptions of human rights, the vocational education and training centers in Xinjiang, and the alleged forced labor in Xinjiang's cotton industry. The scholars acknowledged differences in their perceptions of human rights, particularly in the emphasis on individual rights versus overall societal progress. Both China and the US share similarities in their approach to judicial human rights protection, but there are also differences, such as concerns about transparency in China's judicial system. Chinese scholars have made progress in researching human rights theory, while American scholars have different research methods that can be used as a reference. [Extracted from the article]
