Abstract

This study aims to find out how the concept of Tazkiyatun Nafs or self-purification in Islamic education based on the thoughts of Majid Irsan Kailani in the book Manahij Tarbiyah Islamiyah wal Murabbunal Amiluna Fiha. Through the literature review method, this study aims to understand the meaning and purpose of Tazkiyatun Nafs and identify content that can be integrated into the Islamic education curriculum. The results show that Tazkiyatun Nafs is important for ridding people of mental illnesses such as tyranny and oppression, purifying Islamic culture from destructive values, as well as cultivating universal fraternal values. In practical terms, Tazkiyatun Nafs covers four mental, spiritual and physical aspects of human material, such as purification of intellectual competence, purification of willpower, sensory purification of hearing and sight, and physical purification. This article recommends more integration of Tazkiyatun Nafs in the curriculum and life of Islamic education.
