Abstract
- A 20-year-old man experienced drug tolerance and a rebound effect after discontinuing anakinra, a medication used to treat vasculitic lesions and familial Mediterranean fever. The man had previously been diagnosed with familial Mediterranean fever and received colchicine, which improved his symptoms. He later developed vasculopathic lesions and was treated with prednisolone and azathioprine, achieving remission. However, he developed anemia and macrocytosis, leading to the discontinuation of azathioprine. After starting anakinra, his vasculitic lesions were temporarily controlled, but they reemerged after discontinuing the medication. He was then diagnosed with a deficiency of adenosine deaminase 2 and received infliximab and colchicine, which improved his lesions. [Extracted from the article]
