Abstract

A 68-year-old woman with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) did not respond well to buspirone, citalopram, and nabilone. She had been struggling with severe depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts for 15 years and had tried various treatments without success. After being referred to the hospital in December 2021, it was discovered that she was taking citalopram, buspirone, and nabilone, but her score on the Dutch-Modified (DM)-TRD indicated a lack of efficacy. She later received supportive psychotherapy and ketamine, which led to significant improvements in her symptoms. However, she ultimately withdrew her request for medical aid in dying (MAiD).
