Abstract
- Scientists have discovered the remains of a giant volcano on Mars called Noctis Mons. The volcano, located near the equator, is 250 kilometers wide and reaches elevations of over 9 kilometers. Extensive erosion had previously concealed its nature. The discovery of the volcano is significant as it ties in with other findings in the region, including hints of a buried glacier underneath the volcanic slopes. The combination of glaciers and magmatism is tantalizing for the prospect of finding biosignatures. [Extracted from the article]
