Abstract

A study by Joseph Lee at Flinders University in Australia explores the idea of robot-human boxing as a way to reduce brain injuries in the sport. Lee suggests that with the right programming, a contest between a human and a robot could be as daring as a matador facing a bull. In another study, Ralf Buckley at Griffith University in Australia and Mary-Ann Cooper at Andrés Bello University in Chile calculate the economic value of surfing, estimating it to be around $1 billion to $3.3 billion per year for Australia. Additionally, Patrick Miner at the University of Edinburgh and his colleagues highlight the harm caused by cars, stating that an estimated 2 billion people have been injured in motor vehicle crashes since 2000. However, Roger Roots, a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, argues in a report that the dangers of automobile use are lower than those of early transportation methods. Finally, a study by Thomas Wagner and Tomer Czaczkes at the University of Regensburg in Germany explores how corpse-associated odors repel invasive ants. [Extracted from the article]
