Abstract
- The paper discusses the idea that 'meaninggiving' is the progressive outcome of an ongoing process and, therefore, a very complex psychic activity, in fact inseparable from the progressive construction of the personal self. The reflections contained in the essay move away from the representation that refers to the 'conferment of meaning' as 'an outcome of an intellectual type', a sort of 'crowning achievement' of intellectual and cultural formation, which would concern late adolescents and adults. According to this perspective, it would be an already conceptualised 'world view', like a kind of 'ideology' that therefore, in the opinion of many, today, could not/should not constitute a legitimate task of the school.
