This study outlines the characteristics of microbial aerosol emissions from bioreactors, analyzes the mechanism of microbial aerosol generation, and the effects of several factors, such as microbial growth conditions, gas composition, and gas flow rate and inlet loading, on bioaerosol emissions・ In addition, exposure risks in microbial aerosol environments and different control measures are presented as potential solutions to reduce microbial aerosol emissions・ The aim of this paper is to make more people aware of the importance of controlling microbial aerosol emissions and to make biotechnology treatment of VOCs more environmentally friendly.
