Abstract

The article explores the journey and accomplishments of the Extinction Rebellion (XR) movement, which aims to address the climate and ecological emergency. The movement began with a small event that attracted a thousand people and quickly spread to 86 countries. Despite raising awareness and inspiring action, the article acknowledges that the UK's carbon footprint has increased and the destruction of nature is accelerating. It suggests that the root causes of the predicament lie in a dominant paradigm of control and domination, and calls for a collective collaborative framework for change that includes stopping harm, repairing damage, and founding economies on justice and sufficiency. The article emphasizes the need for unity, learning from global south communities, and reclaiming stewardship of the land. It concludes with a prayer of dedication. [Extracted from the article]
