Abstract

A quasi-experimental study with a control group was carried out in the Ecuador Antarctic school to investigate the impact of a didactic guide designed to promote motivation in the learning of mathematics in third grade students. The sample consisted of 93 students, divided into an experimental group (n=34) and a control group (n=27). The experimental group received classes using the didactic guide, while the control group followed the standard curriculum. Exploratory surveys were conducted with teachers and students to understand the problem and an initial diagnostic evaluation was carried out. The didactic guide, "Exploring the World of Mathematics", included practical and playful activities designed to improve motivation and align the contents with the curricular standards. Statistical tests such as the Mann-Whitney U test and the Wilcoxon test were used to compare motivation scores between groups and to evaluate the evolution within the experimental group. Qualitative feedback was collected from teachers through a questionnaire at the end of the strategy implementation. The results showed a significant improvement in intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, as well as in academic performance, in the experimental group compared to the control group.
