Abstract

India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has set a goal for the country to become one of the world's top five computer chip manufacturers by 2029. This is part of India's plan to become a leading global economy. The rise of artificial intelligence and geopolitical instability have led to a global race to build chip factories. While India faces challenges in terms of infrastructure and competition, it aims to focus on producing 28 nanometre chips for cars and household appliances, rather than cutting-edge technology. India already has a significant chip design workforce and hopes to succeed with prolonged investment in the supply chain. [Extracted from the article]
