Abstract

Abstract: The temperature-scanning plug flow reactor (TSPFR) enables the investigation of kinetics of chemical reactions over a wide temperature range in a relatively small time of operation. The experimental data obtained by this approach can be used to calculate the reaction rate of each component of the reactant mixture for a given set of conditions. The oxidative dehydrogenation of propane by a V2O5/Îł-Al2O3 catalyst was used for illustration. As this reaction is highly exothermic some limitations of the approach had to be considered.
