Abstract

A 75-year-old man developed myocarditis and myasthenia gravis while being treated with nivolumab for metastatic renal cell carcinoma. He experienced symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, double vision, and difficulty swallowing. The man's vital signs indicated low blood pressure, rapid heart rate, and low oxygen levels. Laboratory tests revealed the presence of acetylcholine receptor antibodies and elevated troponin levels. Further investigations confirmed the diagnosis of nivolumab-induced myocarditis and myasthenia gravis. Despite treatment with steroids and plasmapheresis, the man experienced cardiac complications and died. [Extracted from the article]
